Collaborations

I collaborate with others to convene events such as conferences, panels, and networking meet ups. I do this across music and related disciplinary areas, such as philosophy and cultural theory.

London Critical

London Critical is a registered charity. We aim to advance education for the public benefit through facilitating inter- and multi-disciplinary activities that progress critical approaches to research.

I am a founding member and charity Trustee, a member of London Conference in Critical Thought’s organising collective.

RMA Music and Philosophy

I am the Chair (2026-) of the Royal Musical Association’s Music and Philosophy Study Group, and was previously been the group’s Events Coordinator.

The Study Group aims to provide a distinctive, long-term forum for those with an interest in music and philosophy, opening spaces to further work between these disciplines.

AMS Contemporary Musical Modernisms Study Group

With Dr Christine Dysers and Prof. Seth Brodsky, I founded and co-chair the American Musicological Society’s Contemporary Musical Modernisms Study Group.

This group assembles scholars and practitioners interested in rethinking musical modernism’s relevance to and conceptualisation within the contemporary era.

Old Ways, New Sounds: Folklore, Hauntology and Identity in British Music

Organised with Prof. Martin Iddon, this Study Day brings into focus intertwined strands of recent musical activity, those suggesting renewed attention to a nexus of overlapping themes of disappearing of forgotten ways of being: folklore, magic, the ritualistic, and the arcane.

Music in the Psychoanalytic Ear

Organised with Rachel Darnley-Smith (Roehampton) and hosted at the Institute of Musical Research (Senate House Library, May 2018), this Study Day invited musicologists, music therapists, and psychoanalysts into interdisciplinary dialogue through asking: what can we learn about music when these disciplines begin to speak and listen to one another?
